My Story
I was born in the Philippines and came to the UK in 1986. I met Jo's Dad in the late 1980s and we got married in 1992. We welcome Jo into the world in 1996. Unfortunately, Jo's Dad passed away in 2004 after an 8 year battle
with cancer. I have worked in tailoring for over 30 years, and currently run my own business, Jo Lynn Originals.
Jo and I lived in Ipswich for over 10 years, and moved to Oxford in 2010. Little did Jo know, I had multiple health issues. I was diagnosed with PBC in 2004 and was first diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2005 with relapse again in 2007. I hid this from Jo as she was so young and after losing her father I didn't want to worry her. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) in 2004. I have also suffered Lymphoma twice, and I underwent radiotherapy twice.
Unfortunately, my liver disease progressed and whilst Jo was in her final year of sixth form, I was accepted onto the liver transplant list. Just 2 months into her university degree, I was called to have my liver transplant. Unfortunately, this was the start of a 12 month stay in hospital, and I eventually ended up having 3 liver transplants.
This unfortunately led to me losing a lot of weight and I no longer felt myself as I could not fit into any of my clothes.Luckily, as a tailor I was able to alter my own clothes. Now I'm fully recovered, I want to ensure everybody has access to these alterations so noody feels embarassed to wear their own clothes.
